2026 INFORMATION:

The Community Garden at St. Matthew offers 130 annual, raised bed plots (4x8 feet in size) to be leased for a season (April-October). Lease fee is $30 per plot. Please review the following planting and use guidelines:

  • Registration for the season opens March 15. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. Returning gardeners will be given preference to last year's plot assignments as long as a new application is submitted no later than April 1.

  • Planting is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 15 (weather dependent). Gardeners will be notified of plot assignments and garden opening date via email a week before the garden opens for the season.

  • Lease is active from April 15 -- October 15. Fees are non-refundable.

  • Plot(s) MUST BE MAINTAINED throughout the ENTIRE SEASON or the plot(s) will be forfeited.

  • No illegal plants, alcoholic beverages, or drugs are permitted on the premises.

  • No tampering or trespassing into other garden plots. You may not take produce that is not in your assigned plot.

  • You must supply your own gardening tools and plants. (Limited tools are available in the gardening shed. Do not operate equipment that you do not know how to use.)

  • A water source will be provided for your use.

  • All stakes, fencing, and other non-organic garden debris must be removed by October 15.

  • Walkways must be kept clear of all items for ease of mowing and maintenance. Trailing or vine plants must be contained within your assigned plot.

  • Rocks may not be placed in walkways or areas around the plots.

  • Garden opens at dawn and closes at dusk.

  • A composting area is provided for all organic debris. Weeds cannot be placed in the compost area.

  • Perennial plants are NOT permitted in the garden.

  • All gardeners are expected to assist with general maintenance of the community garden. Email communication may be sent periodically regarding tasks to be completed or concerns that need to be addressed.
