January 2026 Update
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Happy New Year! I pray that the joy and peace of Christmas have carried into this new year for you and your family. 2026 is shaping up to be another amazing year at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church.
Looking back, 2025 brought many changes and celebrations. We welcomed 22 new members, celebrated 16 baptisms, and rejoiced as 6 children completed First Communion. We also said goodbye to 3 beloved members who now rest joyfully in the Church Triumphant. Yet numbers only tell part of the story. The Gospel was preached, forgiveness of sins proclaimed, and lives were transformed. Together, we shared the love of Jesus Christ as we served all people in countless ways.
Last November, in preparation for our voter’s meeting, we shared that the congregation was operating with a projected $25,000 loss for the year. Thanks to your generosity and support, we ended the year with a much smaller loss of $8,671.02. I am deeply grateful for your faithfulness and look forward to your continued partnership, especially as we move forward with the increased budget approved in November to strengthen our staff and ministry.
We also clarified the situation regarding the solar panel debt. I know this caught many by surprise, but please know that your board and financial leaders have been working diligently to address it. Recently, the board approved a $60,000 payment toward the principal, which will reduce the loan term by eight years. We are exploring additional options and will share more updates in March.
Looking ahead, I am excited about what God has in store for us this year. We are developing new Bible studies, planning family fun events, and exploring fresh ways to bring our congregation together in worship and fellowship. We are also working on new tools, including our own app, to help us serve you better.
God is at work here. I ask for your continued prayers and support for Saint Matthew and its staff and volunteers. Pray that we work together in unity as we follow God wherever He is leading us. And may we all continue to share the love of Jesus Christ as we serve all people.
In Christ,
Pastor Garet
