End of Summer Update
September 2025
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we near the end of summer, I want to take a moment to share some of the exciting things that have happened recently and what we are looking forward to in the months ahead.
New Logo and Website
We have wrapped up the logo project, as you can see above. The new logo draws inspiration from the church’s architecture, serving as a modern representation of its enduring structure, spiritual foundation, and community. We are also finalizing work on our new website. Both projects will help us tell the story of St. Matthew to those within our congregation and to the people of Bel Air and Harford County.
New Staff
We welcome Kristin McMahon as our new director of marketing and communications. We also celebrated the ordination and installation of Will Ward as a pastor at St. Matthew.
Celebrating Pastor Blaise’s 21+ Years of Service
Join us on Sunday, September 28, as we celebrate Pastor Blaise’s retirement after more than 21 years of faithful service as lead pastor at SMLC. We give thanks to God for his ministry among us.
A Family Dinner and Conversation
On Friday, October 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m., join us for a family dinner (featuring Chick-fil-A!) and conversation. As I approach my four-month anniversary at St. Matthew, I thought it would be a good opportunity to gather as a community, reflect on how things are going, and talk about where we see God leading us. A movie will be offered for children while the adults participate in conversation after dinner. Please sign up through the church office or by using the connect card.
I am looking forward to an amazing fall at St. Matthew. Thank you for making my family and me feel so welcome this summer as we transitioned into this community. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or simply want to talk.
Sharing God's love in Jesus Christ as we serve all people,
Pastor Garet Ellis
